iPhone and iPad app

Building APOUL Clipboard

An iPhone and iPad app for keeping the sentences, URLs, reply templates and text fragments you reuse, ready to copy when you need them. This page covers the design thinking and what the first release includes.

What this page is

A development log, not the product page.

If you want to know what APOUL Clipboard actually does, the product page is the place. This page is about how it is being designed and what the first release covers.

Save a phrase

Reply templates, greetings, addresses, URLs, signatures — anything worth reusing.

Find it again

Pinning, titles, your own order, and search.

Copy it out

Pick the text and paste it into mail, a message or a post.

Copy history

How things you copy get in.

While the app is open, and each time you come back to it, APOUL Clipboard takes what is on the clipboard into its history. iOS does not let apps watch the clipboard in the background, and this app does not try to. The history stays on the device.

How things get in

  • Type the text directly in the app
  • Paste it in
  • Send it from the share menu in Safari, Mail and so on

What not to keep here

Passwords, private keys and credit card numbers belong in a dedicated password manager, not in this app. It is not built to hold that kind of secret.

In preparation

What the first release covers.

First release
The design centres on the copy history, pinned text and notes, titles and your own order, search, templates, and the widget and keyboard.
