APOUL Clipboard Privacy Policy

What APOUL Clipboard handles and how it is protected. Clips and notes stay on your device and are not sent to the developer. Covers clipboard access, the widget and keyboard extension, ads in the free version, and backups.

Updated October 13, 2026

1. Introduction

APOUL Clipboard (the "App") is an iOS app for managing copied text and notes on your device.

This Privacy Policy explains what information the App handles and how it is protected.

2. Information We Handle

As a rule, the App does not send your personal information to the developer's servers. The following data is stored on your device (including the App Group shared container):

  • Clip history (text and images, type, creation date, pinned status, category, title, order, etc.)
  • Notes you save manually
  • Content you save from another app's share sheet (you confirm it before it is saved)
  • Settings such as theme, masking, and device authentication
  • Display data for the widget and keyboard extension

Purchase status (Pro) is managed by Apple's StoreKit; only the verification result is kept on the device.

3. Clipboard Access

The App accesses the iOS clipboard (pasteboard) to save text copied in other apps to your clip history.

  • Capture happens while the App is in the foreground
  • iOS may ask you to allow pasting, for example on first use
  • The App does not continuously monitor the clipboard in the background, as iOS does not permit this

When you tap a clip to copy it, the App also writes to the system clipboard.

4. Extensions (Widget and Keyboard)

The widget and keyboard extension read clip data through the same App Group as the main App.

To show your clips in the keyboard extension, turn on "Allow Full Access" in the Settings app → Apps → APOUL Clipboard → Keyboards. Full Access is used only to read data in the App Group and to insert text into the active text field. What you type is never sent to the developer's servers.

5. Advertising and Tracking (Free Version)

The free version may display banner ads provided by Google AdMob. No ads are shown while you are subscribed to Pro.

To deliver ads, Google and its partners may collect and use the following information. The contents of your clip history and notes are never sent.

  • Approximate location (estimated from your IP address)
  • Device ID (such as the advertising identifier)
  • Product interaction (such as ad views and taps)
  • Advertising data (such as the ads you have seen)
  • Crash data, performance data and other diagnostic data

This information is used for delivering ads, measuring their effectiveness, and analytics. Approximate location, product interaction and performance data are also used by Google's consent tool (User Messaging Platform) to make it work. Approximate location, device ID, product interaction and advertising data may be linked by Google to your device's identifiers. Only the device ID (advertising identifier) is used for tracking, and only if you allow tracking through App Tracking Transparency (ATT). The App asks for tracking permission when required. If you decline, all of the App's features remain available (ad personalization will be limited). You can change this at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, you can change your ad consent choices at any time in the App's settings.

For how Google handles information, see Google's Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy).

6. Backup and Export

As a Pro feature, you can export an encrypted backup (.apoulclip) or JSON / CSV files yourself.

  • Backups are encrypted on your device with a passphrase you choose
  • The App does not store your passphrase
  • You choose where the export goes (AirDrop, Files, iCloud Drive, etc.)

Multi-device sync and automatic backup are still in preparation; at present nothing is uploaded automatically to the developer's servers.

7. Deleting Your Data

Clips and notes can be deleted individually or all at once from within the App. Deleting the App from your device also deletes the App's data stored on the device.

Backup files may remain wherever you saved them (such as Files). Please manage and delete those yourself.

8. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

9. Changes to This Policy

This Policy may be updated as needed. Significant changes will be announced in the App or on the distribution page.

Effective date: June 10, 2026 Last updated: October 13, 2026
